Coming Up On.....Tuesday 15th April
Folk
Since October 2003 Bohemian Jukebox have provided a quality platform for artists and bands working in the fields of Alt-Folk, Post-Folk, Americana, Anti-Folk, and left-field acoustic.
Bohemian Jukebox runs every two weeks, (on a Tuesday) at the Bull's Head, in the leafy suburb of Moseley, Birmingham, England. Doors are at 8:30pm, the first act is on at 9pm. It's £4 in, and your first shot of Sebor Absinth costs one pound.
This Tuesday Bohemian Jukebox presents The Dirty Old Folkers, Paul Oska, Bustmyflex and MotorCyclestunts.
The Dirty Old FolkersTwo self-proclaimed morris dancers, a fiddlin' femme and a non-bearded lady playing gritty, modern, foot tappin’ story-telling folk.
Paul Oska Dark minimalistic folk "Featuring one of the most beautiful opening songs I have heard, ‘I Think I’m Dead’ is a slow moving folk delight. The whole album contains a similar feel to albums by Sharron Kraus, the songs starkly embellished with picked guitar, sparse percussion and haunting strings, the songs intimate to the point of pain, filled with longing and a sense of futility." (Simon Lewis, Terrascope)
Bustmyflex the mesmerising Paul Fitzgerald plays acidic folk on his last Birmingham gig before he moves to Brighton!
MotorcyclestuntsBeautiful miserabalism influenced equally by both American and British Indie circa 1992. Which was a good place to be, and a good place to hark back to.
Tuesday 15th April, The Bull's Head, Moseley. Doors 8:30pm, £4 in. 1st shot of Sebor Absinth is £1.
