Alternative_Metal_Punk

The Madcaps - A madcap as defined by a 1933 edition of the British dictionary is "a wild person". Get four equally wild people in a room with some instruments; add a tad of general disillusionment and this is the noise they make.

The band formed on all hallows eve 2006 when Peter Drakeley, of local infamy, full to the brim with beautiful music messaged local guitar hero Dan Craic to see if he fancied having a jam. Replying in the affirmative the lads soon recruited Dan Mulvy of Above Ruin on bass licks and Martin Reynolds, drum machine, on the sticks.

Cost: £4 in

444 Club present Fistful of Dynamite + Dizzolvers +Waler + Zombies of Ska

Dizzolvers: Formed in November 2007 when members of the Birmingham based band ZINGA WARRIORZ linked up with drummer CDR from Northampton. THE DIZZOLVERS are a 6 piece band born out of the Live Drum & bass scenes of Birmingham & London with an awesome set of original songs influenced by dnb, hip hop, punk, ska, rock n roll, rnb & alternative styles.Although firmly rooted in drum & bass and jungle, THE DIZZOLVERS other influences are plain to hear and give there sound a gritty, raw edge. Imagine Roni Size and Goldie's production, played live with deep dub bass guitar, rhythm guitars reminiscent of the Specials & Sex Pistols, keyboards like a cross between Prodigy and Ray Charles, with mc’ing not imitating but influenced by the Streets & Dizzy Rascal, and soulful female vocals rivalling Jill Scott. Add to that hectic drums from the 23 year old CDR - It sounds like a mad mix but you've got to see and hear it to believe! We're talking about 3 minute songs featuring super fast live 2 step and amen breaks, low down dub bass lines, grimy synths and guitars, alongside raw mc'ing and soulful female vocals that will appeal to people across the board.

Waler is proven to get rid of nine out of ten everyday stains. It is the creative by-product of John Napier and Vincent Gould, two artists/musicians from Solihull, UK. Between them they’ve exhibited artwork at the ICA in London, appeared on the BBC Politics show, supported the Rakes at Birmingham Academy, made 20 euros busking outside the Pompidou Centre in Paris, performed in Chamberlain Square, Birmingham, gained degrees in Graphic Design at Camberwell College, University of the Arts, London, Illustration and a Masters in Black Theology at UCE, had a brief conversation with Alice Cooper about the Beach Boys and burned their forehead on a carpet whilst trying to breakdance.

Venue: The Rainbow, Digbeth
Time: 8pm – 4am
Cost: £4 in £3 w/NUS
