Platform Promotions presents The Fillmore Gears + The Rubikons + Jimmy Weston + The Kull
The Fillmore Gears:
Utilizing their fondness for all that is sleaze and heavy the Fillmore Gears have managed to craft the ultimate soundtrack to fighting, f*cking and driving at 150mph with a raised eyebrow!
The Fillmore Gears have been gaining rapid momentum since their first gig in mid-2006, supporting the likes of 1990s and Rose Hill Drive. Formed by Pete, Mak, Dave and Andy united in their adoration of classic rock, they have since wowed audiences with their firebrand, no-holds-barred hard rock. Blazing guitar solos, dirty bass lines, monumental drumming and an unsurpassed vocal style all characterize the potency of the sound.
The best band in the country - Steve Craddock, Ocean Colour Scene
This band are what music has been missing for so long - The Sound Magazine
The Rubikons:
Rubikon: “A limit that when passed or exceeded permits of no return and typically results in irrevocable commitment.”
You could say that The Rubikons epitomize this meaning. In 2006 the band dropped everything they had and hit the road playing more than fifty shows in three months around the UK. As well as seeing increasing crowds, the band started to gain increasing interest and at the beginning of 2007 entered the studio with Gavin Monoghan (The Twang, Editors, Bloc Party & Kings of Leon).
After an acclaimed response from these early demos, 2007 has seen the band focus on writing and perfecting their live performance. Now with over two albums worth of songs and an electric live show, 2008 promises to be a whirl-wind of a year!
The Kull:
"Shows are explosive exciting, intriguing and intense. The melodic soundscapes, profound waves of guitars and vocals transfix audiences, holding them with a raw, breathless mind-melt of pure adrenaline and an over whelming sense of conviction to their cause . They create a massive wall of densely packed power with subtle influences of …. the cure, the verve and spaceman 3 , twinned with the same sinister yet uplifting undertones of bands such as the velvet underground and joy division….. To watch them, The Kull are intense, intelligent and inspiring they bring optimism and leave you with intrigue, a skill most bands spend their careers failing to achieve."

D’Corner Bois + Eastfield + Revenge of the Psychotronic Man + more tba
D’Corner Bois:
D'Corner bois spring from the UK DIY punk scene, and are based in Birmngham, where you can find a whole rabble of bands playing different styles of loud and angry music in pubs across the region and beyond. At the mo D'Bois are enjoying getting out and about and meeting brother and sister punks in town wherever we're invited, getting daft drunk and having a good old fuckin' thrash onstage.---------------------------Have just finished recording new 10 song cd of all the stuff we've been screaming for the last year and a few new 'uns too. Looks like there's gonna be split release with Geordie punks "BARSE"; being sorted by Rich Lard so more news as we get it.------------------------------------------------------------As ever all gig offers anywhere most welcome and Ben, Al and Ell all put gigs on themselves in places around Brum and the Black Country so the favour always gets returned.
