444 Club present Rogue States + This Beautiful Thief + The Likely Lads
Rogue States:
The Story So Far…
Formed in 2004, Birmingham based band ROGUE STATES consists of brothers Michael Clarke (vocals/guitar) and Steve Clarke (bass), along with Stuart Baxter Wilkinson (drums) and Adam Chetwood (guitar).
Originally a three piece Michael, Steve, and Stuart spent several years honing their sound in rehearsal rooms around Birmingham and playing throughout the West Midlands, before recruiting London-based guitarist Adam Chetwood in January 2007.
The past 12 months have seen the band who “forge influences such as Arcade Fire, Pearl Jam and The Flaming Lips into epic and poetic songs” (subba-cultcha.com) continue to build a stunning live reputation whilst playing around Birmingham and London, impressing BBC Radio One DJ Edith Bowman who name-checked them on air saying they were "a brilliant band…with really great pop songs"
This Beautiful Thief:
"live in the intelligent, epic indie world. mountainous chorus'...tight and soaring. chiming guitars create an exciting tension rush.." Fuse Magazine
"Indie guitar four-piece embracing Bloc Party/Maximo Park/Weezer with some Cars-type new wave pop outings and agreeably rocking out lead guitar." bugbear promotions
"They mix indie rock with hooky, funkish vibes and catchy beats....the right taste in both ears and trendy catches in the hips." Neon Buzz
The Likely Lads
Many people have perceptions of The Likely Lads sound since '6.03' was put up on this site but there is alot more to TLL than that. The band have been compared to older bands such as; The Clash and Gang of Four and newer artists like; Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party. TLL feel that their sound is a combination of the rawness that The Libertines possessed live and on record combined with the music technicality of Bloc Party. The Likely Lads lyrics are about tales of love, loss, alcohol and life in Britain.
TLL are currently working on their debut album 'Mary Poppins Would Not Approve'. The album has been in the works for quite a while now but its all coming together and starting to sound really good. The drum tracks were recorded at Madhouse and everything else recorded at Tom the Tank's house. The album will be finished within the next few months and we will be adding new songs to this site shortly so make sure to check in a few week
