The Go Club The Legion + Nylon Shark + Obzidian
The Legion:
Its all about the music; regardless of circumstances & background, all that matters is songs that get you hooked and gigs that make you happy. In The Legion and their debut album; ’All That Optimism’, you find both. However, there are some pretty interesting facts behind this new Leicester band and the debut album out this autumn:
The Legion has only played together for less then 2 years, 3 of the 4 members are lifelong friends, which shows in the chemistry oozing from their album. Its hard to believe that the songs were written by Stewart Nutting (vocals & guitar) between the age of 14 and 16. Since then, the band, consisting of brothers Craig and Martin Shaw (drums, bass) and Alex Simmons (guitars), has built the songs up together, and polished them in the small upstairs bedroom at the family home of one of the members, where rehearsal takes place (!!!).
The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Deadline Studios in Leicester in only 4 days. It will be out October 08 and a tour will follow. As well as playing Leicester, The Legion has already played Monto Water Rats in London, Manchester and Birmingham venues, and Dublin Castle in Camden.”

Obzidian:
Obzidian formed in late 2001 when Baz (Guitars), Paul (Drums) and Jeffsy (Bass) who had known each other since the start of high school, formed the basis of the band. Two vocalists, both of whom played ryhthm guitar played with the band consecutively over the next 4 years, but it was in spring of 2006 that Baz decided to take over the role of lead and ryhthm guitars alone for a cleaner more groove driven sound and Matty J was added as a single vocalist.
The band have played extensively around the midlands area, centred on their Stafford base. Over the years they have broadened their horizons with gigs in: Leicester, Birmingham, Sheffield, Derby, Warrington, Manchester, Preston, Blackpool, etc and are currently working towards both english and european summer festival dates in the coming months.
Although ultimately aiming to promote their original material, they are versatile enough to play a full set of either originals or classic rock/metal covers usually a mixture of the two, introducing audiences gradually to their progressive, groove based metal original songs of powerful vocals, screamingly fast guitar solos and driving, thunderous bass/drum rhythm section.
In March 2007 the band signed a deal with Casket Records, and they are all hoping this will be the next step for them and help get their music into the right venues and shops and into the hands of the people who matter, metal fans.

444 Club presents Hoodoo Fifties + Old Ions +The Turn + The Ganders
Hoodoo Fifties:
Who the hell are Hoodoo Fifties I hear you scream! Well they are a brand new band formed from the ashes of faded dreams, a collaboration in admiration and a fantasists wet dream. Put simply they are an Indie Band, cobbled together by overtly sexual beasts of the night, playing their stringed tools with skill and passion. Their songs neatly crafted through bizarre rhetoric and keen observation, produced by a wizard to create a tasty Indie Pop soup as catchy as a knobbled stick.
Sounds too good to be true I know, but such dreamy pleasures do await you upon introduction to this group of cunning songsmiths. The world has seen so many breakthrough acts, but in such a world does the Indie Pop band ever fade? I think not, and here we see a band shining brightly, filling the lives of those involved with love and heartfelt genius.

The Catapult Club present Blind Stagger + Walk. Don’t Walk + The Meaning
Walk. Don’t Walk:
Walk. Dont Walk’s music embodies energetic guitar rock blended with a pithy punk attitude and a ska tinged edge. Quite simply, this concoction produces music that makes you want to dance and sing your heart out. Hailing from the West Midlands they found themselves stretched beyond the local scene and ventured to London looking for the brighter lights and more lost souls to convert to the Walk.DontWalk ethic. After just a single taste they were hooked and soon found themselves as favourites with promoters and playing regular slots around the UK and on the London circuit. Thus followed stints supporting the Paddingtons, the Young Knives, and Vincent Vincent and the Villians to name but a few. August 2008 saw them reach the final 4 of the 'Road to V' competition which was televised on channel 4.
However, it is Walk.DontWalk’s never failing emphatic, energetically charged, live performances which have earned them a devout following of fans throughout the UK.
Mark Beaumont NME - "Walk. Don’t Walk from Birmingham... jerked, jolted, waltzed and trumpeted their way through the night’s most electrifying set, complete with their bussed-in crowd of Brummie nutters going decidedly mental in a girl-flinging, dress-removing, mate-piggybacking, TV camera-grabbing frenzy. A turbo-charged Coral anyone?"
Recently, Walk.DontWalk beat a thousand other bands in a “Slice The Pie” showcase and scooped the first prize which entitles them to a £15k non-refundable payout to record their first album which is due for release late 2008.
Venue: The Actress and Bishop, 36 Ludgate Hill, B3 1EN
Time: 8.30pm
