Humbucker present Textbook Rumours + Afternoon Workshop +Blue Noise +The Fallen Dukes.
Textbook Rumours:
Textbook Rumours consists of Tom, Dave, Chris and our newest member Ben. After parting ways with our previous lead vocalist, the band is now entering an exciting new era full of drive and ambition to express our passion for music and to make our mark on the music scene.

We’ve decided that once we’ve done our last few gigs were going to take a few months out from the live scene to write some more material, record more and focus on other aspects off the group. But keep your eyes open cuz September time we will be back!!!

Afternoon Workshop:
Presently we are working on a two piece 'covers' gig, along with working on our own material!! Performing a repertoire of male and female songs with Amie's melancholy tones and Hollie's acoustic style on electro acoustic guitar.

Blue Noise:
Blue Noise are a four-piece Indie Rock band who hail from Cheltenham. Their live performances are showcases of the energy and charisma of their music, which is lyrically existential and musically both raw and sensitive, explosive and dynamic. Matt (guitar) Will (drums) and Joe (guitar, vocals, songwriter) met whilst still at school and formed the basis of what would be Blue Noise. With the addition of bassist Adam in 2006, the band started their musical career and are currently working on new recordings

This is Tomorrow present Look See Proof + The Gravity Crisis + Flashguns +
DJ Matt Flux

Look See Proof:

Look See Proof, five best friends from Hertfordshire who write music we feel like writing... despite what any journalist likes to claim. We've been together just over two years and continue to keep working hard, writing new songs and playing shows.

We used to work, but since last year have had the pleasure to quit work and although it can be a struggle financially at times, we're having a great time doing this so thankyou to anyone who has shown us support!

The Gravity Crisis:
Based on a firm belief that noisey guitar music can be as melodic as anything else around, the band formed in a sweaty old converted Birmingham factory in late 2006....... in the rainy Spring of 2008 the Gravity Crisis received plays from Radio 1's Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Colin Murray, 6music's Tom Robinson and Steve Lamacq within the same week, all due to a demo sent in by chance, that along wih successful supports with The Enemy and The Pigeon Detectives in 2007 the band are now happily going about their biz playing shows... come and get involved!

"Certainly the best demo to land on my desk this year"
Steve Lamacq - BBC6 Music

"Punchy, golden era indie choruses weave and then soar from a super heavyweight backing. TGC are a wrecking ball, riddled with pop hooks, that you'll want your face to be smashed in with over and over again"
THE FLY

"Like Graham Coxon if he'd been raised on Motorhead instead of the Kinks"
NME

"How the Midlands awakes! The Gravity Crisis will be in danger of kick starting an exciting scene. For once the NME hit the proverbial nail. Certainly this twin guitar four-piece fires along like a rock'n'roll McLusky or English and artrock Pixies. Perhaps a tad more straight ahead (but also hooky) than the post-punk from Leeds and the North East (Forward Russia and Dartz!) but equally abrasive and flat-out. No releases to date but lets hope Artrocker Club dates help change all that ! I'd almost be tempted to mention 'old school' ... as in Detroit Garage Rock, Scandinavian art-punk (International Noise Conspiracy stylee) and UK punk-pop (Mega City 4) - any way it's full-throttle.
ARTROCKER MAGAZINE

"An epidemic in the waiting"
MEDIA ASSASSIN

"Buzzcocks-y vocals with a hard, fast and dirty...oh so dirty...musical heart. The kind of band that make you want to buy a motorbike and drive across America drinking Jack Daniels and snorting Ajax (it cleans the sinuses a treat so I'm told). Ace!"
THE HEARING AID

"Loud enough to be heard in space"

444 Club present The Crimes + Hot Monocles + The Cubans + Dannys Last Dance

Hot Monocles:
After about 3 years of living in different cities, we're all back in good ol' Brum and ready(ish) to start gigging like maniacs in an attempt to get our beloved city back into live music again. Hopefully spending more than 6 hours a month together will yield some results!

We've just finished recording 2 spanking new songs and re-recording Snobs so check them out on here! We know what you scamps are like with ripping the songs of myspace so to save you all that trouble for what will only be poor versions of the songs, if you message us on here or ring one of us then we'll send you the real deal for free over email! Can't argue with that!

We're all really excited at finally being able to give this band craic a solid slog. It's been far too long and we really can't wait, so hopefully you'll be seeing our faces around and about a lot more in the months to come. Yeah, the bass guitar is a bit heavy on some of the tracks (I've just put a newer version of Fairer Eyes which should be a little better) and Rhythm & Booze, Take Your Best Shot and The Forest still need re-doing, but we're poor and no-one is paying us to record and bar work doesn't pay too well, so it may have to wait for a bit!

Danny’s Last Dance:

Danny's Last Dance - The disco bitches 4 piece genre bending band, hailing from south wickywild west London. Expect energy comparable to that of a gorilla on speed and melodies, lyrics and beats that will lift you to a place just above Hull.

After the bands - Duncan Murray + Andy Bell + Sidders + James Hughes DJ

Dirty Rose are here to bring metal back to the good old days. Screaming guitar leads, crunchy riffs, pounding drums and controversal lyrics are what they live for

Maycomb + So Long Superman + Go Team Go + Still Bust

Maycomb:
We are a pop punk four piece from the West Midlands, and we follow our hearts.
'Maycomb' is pronounced as the month, followed by the popular hair styling apparatus.

Common misinterpretations include:
Make Home
Make Up
Make 'em
Make Over
May Com

These are bad and wrong.

So Long Superman:
So Long Superman began back in 1985 when dressing like Michael Jackson was kool and headbands were at their absolute peak.*

In their current format since June 2007 and currently writing new material which you should be hearing in the next month or so!

So Long Superman is a band made of just 4, ordinary guys (and a crazy hobo on synth)

They don’t bitch and worry if guys and gals in tight jeans and eyeliner don’t like them,

They arent here to brag about their fan base of 12 year olds who fancy them,

The band has come together simply for their love of music, playing shows and being as stupid as humanly possible,
hopefully making loads of friends along the way

So sit back, relax, and be prepared to get blown away

Henry Rollins

Pop Culture Renaissance Man- If Henry Rollins were a question on a multiple-choice quiz, the correct answer would be “D. All of the above.” Best known to some as the frenetic frontman for punk rock legends Black Flag and later the Rollins Band, and to others for his sharp-tongued spoken performances, Henry Rollins is an actor and an author. He’s a businessman and a philanthropist. He’s a GRAMMY-nominated singer and a GRAMMY-winning spoken word artist. He’s an ad pitchman, a USO veteran, a world traveler and a TV host. And above all else, he’s a tireless performer, averaging more than 100 shows a year for the past two and a half decades.

Bohemian Jukebox presents Richard Batsford + The Lazy Lizards + Pony Chair Back + Tom Peel

“A lovely little affair, mostly centring around singer-songwriters but with other stuff too. (Some quite surprising other things at times.) I liked the vibe, and indeed the value - four quid gets you four musical acts and a chit that lets you get a shot of absinthe for a pound. You can’t say fairer than that.” (russl.wordpress.com)

Richard Batsford
"His music displays amazing beauty in repetition and minimalism. Definitely a performer to keep your eyes on."
Evening Mail

"Each piece brimmed with an inherent sense of poignancy ... Batsford created a spectral ambience which made him stand out from other composers. Utterly spell-binding."
Birmingham Post

The Lazy Lizards
Impassioned and powerfully arranged songs with a strong sense of social consciousness. There are shades of the 1960’s psychedelia of Arthur Lee’s Love within ‘em.

Pony Chair Black
Emotionally-charged stories deceptively presented in pop wrapping. Catchy tunes that tell tales of lives spent living, loving, losing, despairing and, just occasionally, winning.

Tom Peel
Ivor Culter-esque up-tempo, uplifting folk-rock blues from an excitable and instantly likable fellow.
"This is the new Bob Dylan, re-born and relocated to Birmingham. Unique, witty, intelligent and a must see."

Humbucker presents The Chase + Half Day Closing + Reprobate + Before I Explode

The Chase:
“y'alright, we're the Chase.
We’re a Birmingham based band who love doing what we do, and are passionate about it, its not just a hobby... its what we want to do.
Its 2008 and we hope to make it a good'n, its started off well for us, booked up for several gigs in just the first 2 months of the year, lets hope the rest of the year follows the same pattern.”

Reprobate:

REPROBATE are a five piece band from Tamworth. We have been around since December '04. We are a band with many influences combining powerful riffs, grinding bass lines, authoritative drumming and vocals with attitude.

Reviews:
A great set from Tamworth based Reprobate saw them voted through to the second round by the other bands. A heavy, guitar driven rock sound they made great use of dark basslines, hurtling solos and front man Richard’s rock-drone vocals. Memorable tracks with interesting lyrics and inventive structures, at times they were almost experimental, and while their music was always grand, it never seemed overly indulgent. For such young lads they have great ability and stage presence, and gave a tight but energetic performance

Before I Explode:

Before I Explode are Sophie and Jak

They write electric music. They met in a queue.
It was a very long queue. They were at the front.
and whilst queuing in this queue discovered they were in a band.
They write our music over msn. Most of the year we live a billion miles away from each other.

Acoustic Brew presents Babajack + Bruno Gallone + Richard McGuire + Cathal Keenan + Rob Lane

Bruno Gallone:

“I was born in July 1972. That means I was your age, when I should have been doing what I'm now doing at my age. Being ancient has its advantages, though: for instance, young whippersnappers can provide amusement by taking my decrepitude a bit too far, and by asking me if I saw Hendrix live. This allows for the imagination to kick in, and I can describe being at that Bank Holiday 1967 Spalding all-dayer with Hendrix, Cream, Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band, Syd’s Floyd and Zoot Money all on the bill for a quid.

The first record ever bought for me was London Bridge is Falling Down by Pinky and Perky. From that moment (circa 1975), a star was born. Riding hypnotically around and around the manhole cover in the back yard, on my tricycle with the Mary Mungo and Midge sticker on the seat, I wore my Bay City Rollers tartan dungarees while munching on my Dalek Exterminator ice lolly. In such a state of serenity, I dreamed of being a rock godhead, like Orinioco from The Wombles, or Rory from Animal Kwackers.

At the age of fifteen, I started playing guitar. In those days I was very harsh and loud – not much has changed – and I used to like playing my electric through an old Watkins Copicat and various assorted pedals, and making aeroplane and UFO noises at the neighbours walking past. I had an idea of forming a band called Oasis, but my bassist Baz said that was a crap name. I suggested Nirvana instead, and he retorted that we’d never make it with a name like Nirvana. I think we settled on All Night Orgy and the Conservative Candidates for a while. Our band meetings consisted of the usual mantra (“Gotta get a drummer, man”). We never did get a drummer.

When I was eighteen – the day Maggie Thatcher resigned – I got my twelve string acoustic Sigma, Ziggy, and a DADGAD-tuned odyssey began. That’s when I got into writing songs masseeeeeve seriouuuuuussss. Or not. Once I hit the age of about twenty-four or five, it was Kevin Duffy from Whiskey Before Breakfast who insisted I take my writing and singing a bit less lightly, and it was local Cambridge saxophonist and musical luminary Dom “The Hat” Latter who got me performing at places such as the now defunct Boat Race, supporting The Levellers, Ezio, and a few others.

I jacked in the songwriting and singing lark again for a few years, to get some OU degrees – I never was much good at singing and being sensible at the same time – but once I escaped through the other end of spouting Lukacs and Althusser and deconstructing sweet wrappers, I returned to making tunes.

So, there's the meteoric rise to semi-obscurity, for you. I’ve been gigging a fair bit, this past year or two, before it’s all too late. I was even on Tom Robinson's Introducing Old Blokes Who Have Been Around Forever (But Have Just Discovered The Internet) show, the other week. I like a nice PA system, so if you have one, please feel free to book me, and I will come to you. I’ve even recorded an album, and when I’ve the dosh to release it, you will have it. If you like me, let me know. You’ll make an old man very happy.”

This week Ragtime Sam + Open Mic

Sam Redmore:

Sam Moore (AKA Ragtime Sam) is a English solo acoustic artist well practiced in a vast range of traditional and contemporary idioms. His influences draw heavily from the music of the 1920’s and 30’s in the Southern States of America. Sam has amassed a large repertoire of Ragtime and Delta Blues music from this period. The influence of such musicians as the Reverend Gary Davis, Blind Blake and Ry Cooder have remainded the backbone of Sam’s sound, also drawing on more contempary artists such as Bob Brozman and Cassandra Wilson. Sam has attempted to add his own modern spin on the way that blues and ragtime is played whilst maintaining a strong link with the musics roots. In addition to this Sam is also a skilled Flamenco guitarist with a Meticulous skill in playing in the 'Rumba', 'Bulerias', 'Solea', 'Malaguena' and 'Romance' stiles of this music. Sam is known for his passionate, heartfelt and eclectic live performances. Donning a full suit and sporting a trilby hat (a style reminiscent of Robert Johnson) Sam has been busy gigging throughout the UK as well as international performances in New York City, Chicago, Memphis and New Orleans (USA tour 2008) and in Paris (France tour 2007) since embarking on a solo career in early 2007.
In February 2008 Sam completed recording his debut album 'Reaching for the Blues' featuring eleven tracks that capture the essence of his music. The CD is now available on request from the Mostly Toast Productions Home page and will soon be downloadable from iTunes. The Go Club with Rock and Rose Promotions presents Golf Sale + The Love Jones + The Low Orders

The Love Jones:
From the birthplace of rock n roll & centre of the universe - Wolverhampton, come five men of no fixed hairstyle who offer something a bit different to the current crop of miserable new wave revivalist arseheads doing the rounds at the moment...

Drawing from literally quite a few influences, The Love Jones create their own type of power pop touching on everything from bittersweet ballads about orange girlfriends, to claustrophobic introspective kazoofests, to exciting all out twin guitar solo battles - and all in the time it might take you to fold up some washing and make a cup of tea.

The band figured heavily on Channel 4’s 2007 4music website relaunch, appearing on radio and television ads nationally, and secured plenty of remix work as a result - most notably for Seb Fontaine’s “Reflekt”.

The first album was received well by critics and the public at large and the second album is coming along very nicely too thankyou very much. Despite the thrill of listening to The Love Jones in a tamed recorded setting, the real joy comes from spotting this band in the wild, stalking gently so as not to startle them in their natural environment - wowing audiences at pubs, clubs and dedicated music venues across the Midlands. Even festival crowds who only turned up by mistake as slightly lost, confused & bumbling ale tent seekers leave as trusty LJ's devotees

The Low Orders:
STOOD WATCHING THE ENEMY AT THE BARFLY LATES SUMMER 2007 CHRIS LANG AND ANDREW HEATH WERE DISCUSSING BAND NAMES, LANGY TURNS TO HEATHY AND SHOUTS OVER THE ROARING CROWN "I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE LOW ORDERS WOULD BE A GOOD NAME FOR A BAND" AND THERE IT WAS DECIDED AND THE ORDERS WERE BORN.

LATER THAT YEAR MATHEW FRANCIS WILLIAM PRINCE CAME TO WATCH HIS MATES JOHNNY HOLYMAN AND HEATHY RUNNING THROUGH SOME SONGS THAT HAD FALLEN OUT OF HEATHYS GUITAR. HE WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THE TUNES THEY WERE PLAYIN AND THE SOUND THE TWO HAD FORMED OVER A FEW YEARS OF JAMMIN, CHATTIN OUTSIDE WITH HEATHY HE REALISED THAT THERE WAS ONLY ONE WAY HE COULD SEE IT GOIN AND THE BELIEF IN THE ORDERS WAS STRONG, MATTY GOT A BASS AND FOR 3 WEEKS EVERY DAY THE TWO MET UP TO GO THROUGH THE SONGS AND FORMED THE NOW BACKBONE OF THE ORDERS. A OPEN MIC NIGHT IN CANNOCK ROCK CAFE BY HEATHY SAW A FIRST GIG OFFERED BY WIDE AWAKE PROMOTIONS TO THE ORDERS WHICH THEY SNAPPED UP WITH ONLY 4 WEEKS TO GET A BAND AND SET TOGETHER.

TIME SPENT BY THE THREE FOR THE FIRST 2 WEEKS WAS MINIMAL DUE TO THE DRUMMERS WORK LOAD AND IT WAS LOOKING LIKE HEATHY WOULD BE STANDING THERE ALONE. FRUSTRATION WAS MOUNTING IN THE ORDERS CAMP AND A CALL TO MATTYS YOUNGER COUSIN THE AZZ WAS MADE WHO WAS PLAYIN IN A GREB BAND CALLED PALE IN STAFFORD. A CALL TO THE FIRST TEAM CAPTAIN OF ARMITAGE CRICKET CLUB WAS MADE AND THE ORDERS MET UP FOR A NOCK ONE COLD SATURDAY IN NOVEMBER. THE DRUM SKILLS OF THE AZZ WERE APPARENT AS SONGS LIKE FOREVER YOUNG, DRINKING BY MY SELF AND YOUR MARDY WIFE BLEW THEM ALL AWAY. THE GIG WAS BACK ON AND A SET OF 7 TUNES WAS THROWN TOGETHER FOR FRIDAY THE 28TH OF NOVEMBER.

THE GIG WENT TO PLAN AND THE CROWN WERE IN AW OF THIS BRAND NEW 3 PIECE FROM RUGELEY AND TAGE. THE ORDERS KEPT ON ROLLING AND GIGIGING WHERE EVER POSSABLE SUPPORTING LISTEN TO JOHNNY TO A CROWD OF THE LADS CHRISTMAS EVE IN THE ROCK CAFE LICHFIELD WITH A SET 13 STRONG.THE FOLLOW UP GIG AT THE CANNOCK ROCK CAFE ON THE 28TH OF DECEMBER WITH A CUT DOWN SET OF 8, A CLEAR IMPROVEMENT WAS SEEN AND THERE FIRST HEADLINE GIG WAS OFFERED THAT NIGHT FOR THE 25TH OF JAN 2008, 1 MONTH FROM THERE FIRST.THE ORDERS PACKED THE PLACE OUT WITH FAMILY FRIENDS AND A GROWING FAN BASE AND NAILED IT CLEAN KNOWING THATS WHERE THEY BELONGED.

THERE FIRST RECORDING WAS BOOKED IN THE LIVE ROOMS OF UNIVIBE STUDIOS WALSALL EARLY SATURDAY MORNING THE 2ND OF FEB 2008 AND 18 SONGS WERE PUT DOWN AS A LIVE DEMO TO USE AS A REFERENCE TO THE SOUND THE ORDERS WERE GETTING A REPUTATION FOR........

Back in 2005/6 DJ Adam started off ‘Punk & Ska @ the Gallows’(John Bright St, Birmingham) as a weekly night playing the best in ska, punk and reggae. DJ Adam, shared the decks with the impecciably mannered DJ SMIJ . Together they took over Wednesday nights and soon began putting on shows featuring bands such as Mouthguard, Drongos For Europe, Self inflicted, The Cunts, Vigilante, Kamikaze Sperm, Jessi Eastfield to name but a few. However, in November 2006, something inexplicably terrible happened. Edwards No 8/Gallows fell victim to an arsonist attack rendering the night obsolete.
Things lay dormant until May 2007 when Mark Detrimental (pushed on by the brainpower that is the lovely Mel aka Miss Siren) decided to do what hadn't been done before - restart the night!
Starting at the end of Summer 2007, the new night – ‘PUNK & SKA AT SCRUFFYS’ is now held downstairs at Scruffy Murphys every month.

DJ SMIJ will be playing Punk (everything from OI to Pop), Ska, Rockabilly/Psychobilly, Reggae and if your bloody lucky some hip hop. They also like to play small and local bands. And if you want anything played, bring your CDs along.

The Dead Fish

Eerrrr….This really could say anything as I don’t speak Spainsh!!! (Editor)

Platform promotions presents Imogens Kiss + The Maker Band + Call this a Comeback + Bassic

Imogens Kiss:
"I didn't think it was one of my best when I first wrote it," recalls singer/songwriter/guitarist Adam Wilson. "But when we play it, it's the song that people comment on the most. I guess we were made to pick it as our first single."

Viva La Diva is the first Digital Download single from Imogen's Kiss. Filled with their trademark songwriting hooks and harmonies, Viva La Diva is a tale of love, loss and being there for the girl... even if she did leave you. "It's about a girl I know. There are some references to real life hidden in the lyrics, so hopefully she won't realise it's about her. But the aspect of her and me being in a relationship is fictional. You just need that angle to make the song and the lyrics come full circle." explains Adam "And the la, la, la, la's are for everyone to sing along to." he adds with a smile.

Viva La Diva is avaiable to download now from iTunes and HMV Downloads.

Imogen's Kiss are Adam Wilson, Paul Dawson, Dave Harris and Kev Thompson. Formed early in 2006, they have concentrated mainly on playing in their local area of Tamworth and Birmingham in a bid to drum up a local fan base, before beginning to spread the word of Imogen's Kiss further.

In 2007 they began working with M.A.S Records who they would record Viva La Diva with. "We're lucky in that we don't have to pay for things like studio time, M.A.S provide us with that as well as any promotional material. These kind of things are costly and not all bands have the finances to do it. Especially when there are very few gigs that pay or bands are relying on ticket sales, of which they'll only get a percentage. We get on well with the people from M.A.S. They're a great bunch of people." Adam construes.

This is where Imogen's Kiss are today. Keep your eyes and ears open for them.

The Maker Band
The Maker Band is a new one-man-band creation described as ‘portable rock n roll’.
Frontman Jonny Amos has already tasted success in the music industry following the charting triumph of his Australian underground no.9 hit ‘Sarah Jane’ and now the multi-instrumentalist launches his unique blend of rock, beat-box and hooks to the world. He Says “The Maker Band concept is simple. You don’t need to form a band when you can make one. There’s two art forms in music, the art of recording and the art of performing. I have fused the two by creating a multi phrase live looping set up to my live act allowing me to play everything in the band, record it and perform it in front of people’s eyes.”
Amos has sessioned for big label artists alongside being a well respected jingle writer for such commercial radio stations as Galaxy FM and Kiss FM before spending 3 years in the much hyped UK rock group, Red Star Rebels. Having toured with numerous big name bands, worked with numerous top name producers and built up a huge nationwide fan base “The Rebels” were dubbed “The hardest working band in the business” by Industry insider Paul Bay. Having built up a media frenzy with numerous celebrity fans and being awarded with ‘Best Rock Act’ at the 2007 Indy Awards, Jonny left the band to concentrate wholly on the project that had been “rattling around in my head for years”, the hotly anticipated Maker Band. “I don’t do name dropping or bullshit talk. I leave that for those who aren’t happy with what they actually have in life” quipped the outspoken singer in a 2008 interview with Timeout magazine.
“I’ve written hooks, jingles and soundtracks in the past but now its time to put something truly original out there. This industry is changing hugely and the artist is back in control. Trust me when I tell your readers that I’m at the forefront of something that’s never been done before in modern music. I don’t need a band and I don’t need a label. Watch what happens.”
The Maker Band look set to release debut album ‘Based on True Stories’ in 2009.

Call this a Comeback:
Call This A Comeback are an independent four piece pop punk outfit from Staffordshire. They formed in May 2008 and are the product of ex members of punk rock band Vigilante, pop punk band Lost ‘N’ Found and solo guitarist/singer/songwriter Seth Row. Their sound reflects a combination of influential bands, such as Blink 182, Allister, Screeching Weasel and MXPX to name a few.

"Call This a Comeback are a fresh breath of air in the UK scene! I especially enjoyed "Mend My Heart", great Bowling for Soup-esque riff! These guys are on to great things." - MC Lars

"I quite like your songs! They remind me of the good ol' days of Blink-182 pop-punk glory. Keep up the good work!" - Matt (Wheatus)

The Autumn Store presents The Smittens + The Zebras + Red Pony Clock.
All these bands are from outside the UK!

The Smittens:
The Smittens are a five-piece indiepop band from Burlington, Vermont and like to think of themselves as a DIY twee pop explosion. Dana Kaplan, Colin Clary, David Zacharis, Holly Chagnon, and Max Andrucki, with help from the talented Emily Hilliard, switch up instruments, song-writing, and singing to create brilliantly lyrical and hyper-catchy pop songs of all colors, shapes and sizes. Formed on a whim at a party in 2002 by a group of popkids who wanted to make for their friends the kind of music they love, the Smittens have emerged as one of the country’s best-loved underground indiepop quintets, with headlining slots in the past year at the New England, New York, Toledo, and Athens Popfests. The band’s hotly anticipated third album Pop Your Heart, mixed by Eric Masunaga, will be out in early 2008, on Athens, Georgia’s indie institution Happy Happy Birthday To Me. The critically acclaimed 'Gentlefication Now!' and 'A Little Revolution' are both now available through Happy Happy Birthday to Me.

Red Pony Clock:

From the sun-kissed shores of San Diego, CA comes Red Pony Clock, an ever-shifting musical collective with a penchant for jubilant horn arrangements, effervescent vocal harmonies, and confessional song-writing. Primarily a recording project based on the songs of Gabe Saucedo & Tony Prudhome; the live Red Pony Clock lineup can oftentimes swell into the the double digits, with members switching back and forth between a wide variety of non-traditional instruments, such as trombone, banjo, accordion, & vibraphone. RPC will pretty much try to work with whatever they can get their hands on. The same goes for their song-writing, which has been known to take from such diverse influences as mariachi, disco, country, jazz, & R&B.
At first listen, the density of Red Pony Clock's music can be overwhelming, even confounding. But take heart!! While most twelve-headed monsters are intent on luring you under your bed only to inflict unspeakable acts of torture, Red Pony Clock would rather help you build a pillow fort in which to chill out and have a sing-along. Or better yet, a jamboree!!!
Over the course of 6 years, Red Pony Clock has gone from being a one-man lo-fi recording project to the incalculable, cult-like assemblage of today, sporadically releasing their music on 7" records, cassettes, and hand-decorated CDRs. Their latest release, God Made Dirt (HHBTM records), marks RPC's first foray into professional studio recording. With the help of their old friend, Roy Silverstein at Habitat Studios, Red Pony Clock has finally made the record they've been trying to make since they started. It's a boundlessly sprawling work, made to be absorbed as a whole, and brimming with the spirit of a band who makes music only because they love it more than anything else in the world.
