Rehab promotions present Elysium Eye + Reign of Fear

Elysium Eye is the result of a collaboration between like-minded musicians, all determined to transform the global metal scene with their unique brand of Visual Kei inspired metal. Their sound is the result of a fusion of many individual genres, and two contemplative glances to the sounds of the western metal scene, inspired by the intensity and glamour of the Japanese Visual Kei rock movement. With break through acts such as Dir En Grey yielding a colossal international fan base, it is certain that the world is only seeing the tip of the ice berg in terms of the international impact that this new breed of rock will bring, a movement which Elysium Eye are very much a part of.
Formed in 2007, Elysium Eye consists of five members all willing to devout their future to the band. Over the past year the band have been working on material for a debut release, and wish to develop this material in a studio environment. With debut single 'Bullets' having been recorded in August, the band are set to record two more studio singles at the end of October.
The band have a handful of live shows lined-up in their local area, and have so far received a hugely positive response from metal fans around the county. The band are looking for a record deal and their big break.

Reign of Fear begun from the humble beginnings of Birmingham and are a brutal four piece metal band comprised of best friends: Dougy, Alex and Pete. With a hard work ethic these lads are making waves in the local music scene and will continue to do so. If you like real Metal hard and fast check out REIGN OF FEAR's new ep SCARS OF TIME.Since the completion of the Scars of Time cd the Band have been hard at work writing for their first full length release 'As Babylon Burns' hoping to be out in the Winter

The Go Club present The Clouds + Miss Halliwell +The Mallory Heart

The Clouds: (from their Myspace)
Good evening. A lot of bands enjoy life. A lot of bands want to create art. A lot of bands have integrity. We are not a band. If you stimulate us with food, wine or femininity, we will play instruments for you, but other than that, we are but men. If you want to penetrate us, please get deeper into this page and come all over us with your rock and roll emails. If you like the songs here, send us some money, because thats how it works in the real world, and when we're famous we will lick your gangrenous stumps with all our might.

The Mallory Heart:
The Mallory Heart are Nicole, Fi and Sarah based in Birmingham. Along with a drum machine, Nicole and Fi merged late 2006 through a mutual love of The Clash. Whilst marvelling at the greatness of local band Miss Halliwell and their drummer Sarah, Nicole and Fi quickly set about the business of recruiting Sarah into Mallory ranks and the rest, as the proverb goes, is history.

The Mallory Heart bring you a mixture of grunge and lo fi punk with a feminine, intellectual twist.

Rehab Promotions present Vegas Assault + Supanaut + Voodoo Johnson + Blinc 182

Vegas Assault:
They have been described as a powerful live entity in a town that has seemingly tried to extinguish all ways of putting across new and exciting live music. Determined not to fall to the same fate as many others, the self-proclaimed wrecking machine that is Vegas Assault have set about on a collision course to make something of themselves and prove any doubters wrong.

The four piece formed in the latter stages of 2006 and immediately provided themselves as an outlet for people who were sick of the normality of the local talent around these parts. Combining a modern edge with love and respect for bands that have influenced them since they were in single digits means that VA creates explosive and memorable performances for whoever wants to witness something heartfelt and real.

The band did not rush their entrance into the field of live music, instead deciding to hone their craft and make sure they were a well-oiled unit. That’s not to say they are now the finished product, far from it, but they are a product that is continually improving and impressing. Vegas Assault are a band who pride themselves on their live shows. They'll guarantee you a strong, serious musical showing mixed with a light, party and often comedic atmosphere that can appeal to a wide range of audiences.

Go! Club present Dirty Mindz + Shot Dead in Vegas + Spread Legs not Lies + The Funhouse Robots

Dirty Mindz:

dirty mindz are a young four peice punk band from birmingham. they have been playing together around 1 year now and are a very energetic and tight live band giging solidly and as often as possible book gigs every 2 weeks in birmingham.

towards the end of 2007 dirty mindz began touring and have started expanding into new areas of the uk such as london and derby etc. after playing a few one of gigs managed to book a small london tour, the year also saw dirty mindz winning 2 local battle of the bands and playing gigs at renowned venues such as the birmingham barfly and bar academy.

in 2008 the band started the year by playing a show in london at the dublin castle. this was then followed up by 2 gigs at the 333 mother bar as well as giging to bigger crowds in birmingham and by this point had developed 40 minutes worth of original material. in 2008 the band booked there first ever 7 date uk tour.

dirty mindz are going strong as ever and are ready to see what 2009 will hold. adopting a very strong "if you dont like it fuck off" attitude which has led to the occasional fight . but dirty mindz are sticking to there own and will continune doing so.

We are Dissidence. We want to play lots of gigs to lots of people. We want to play our own blend of metal/hardcore, and cover material actually worth shouting about. We aim to break your ears, open your hearts and make you leave a show feeling a little more pissed off than when you first arrived.

Hand of Grief:

Hand of Grief are a 5 piece metal band hailing from Rotherham, South Yorkshire. we formed in 2007, essentially for the sole purpose of causing damage to eardrums across the globe. A quick demo was thrown together for myspace purposes and then we hit the road, playing all around the country. Hopefully as our tentacles spread out and choke the life out of this god forsaken rock we call the British Isles we can reach more ears and spread the word.

Rehab Promotions presents Obsidian Rain + Supanaut +Sour Mash

Obsidian Rain:
born out of 80's rock and in the twilight of the millennium, under the influence of numerous bands such as Skid Row and Motley Crue! Obsidian rain was born. A volcanic explosion of old school rock and metal mixed with the elixir of modern day guitar riff's, molten lava vocals, boot stomping bass and drums that brings any venue alive.

Sour Mash:
Sour Mash, in its full line up of Shane Kiely: Drums, Dave Payne: Guitar, Ben Newbery: Bass and Adam Newbery: Vocals and Guitar, formed in September 2005. The aim was simply to play songs by bands which we all enjoyed and also to create songs of our own. Influences include Metallica, Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters, Motorhead, Black Sabbath and many more. After spending a few months preparing Sour Mash played its first gigs in early 2006. These include venues such as The Flapper and Firkin, Sheldon Marquee and Bar Academy (Bham), The Jailhouse and Oak (Coventry) and also gigs at local schools and colleges. These shows have been attended by larger crowds as our fan base has grown and many promoters have promised more dates in the future. We have committed some of our songs to tape. These are recorded and produced by the band and are available on our my space site

Rehab Promotions present Severenth + Rue the Day + Asingod

Severenth:
'Severenth is possibly the most brutal live act on the local scene, with watertight riffs coupled to crisp rhythm patterns these guys will leave you breathless.Fronted by Peet Bailey and his borderline falsetto vocal, you can't miss them.'

Chester Evening Leader 21/06/07

'Finally, taking to the stage with great anticipation were the newly signed Severenth. As expected the lads delivered a bludgeoning set of killer metal. Dani and Ben provided a rock solid wall of double bass drum and snarling bass, complementing the twin guitar assault of chunky riffs and melodic solos from Jay and Steve E. Whilst front man Pete's wide ranging vocals soar above this severe pounding, from low growls to high pitch screams, anger and melody, matched only by his on stage antics, equally entertaining! The lads showed what true professionals they are, keeping the crowd captivated, even when half the PA died.'

Rock Chick Reviews 29/01/08

Rue the Day:
Recently back from a successful tour of Eastern Europe, concluding in a headline slot at the Party in the Prague Festival, Rue The Day’s music has featured on MTV 2's Headbangers Ball, a ‘history of thrash’ Big Cheese covermount CD and a number of extreme sports films - while the band themselves have ripped apart a string of high-profile venues; Camden Underworld, Oxford Zodiac and the Birmingham Barfly to name but a few.
Proving a particular favourite with legendary Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, with regular airplay on his BBC Radio 6 metal show, RTD have been widely touted as ones to watch amongst the underground metal press – Devolution magazine christening them as ‘your new favourite band’.
Asingod:
From the murky depths of the Black Country come Asingod. The band are a relentless metal assault that is as uncompromising, bleak and gritty as their industrial surroundings. Their soul and passion for their art is more than clear on stage.

"The first band of the evening was Black Country based Metal four-piece Asingod. Death Metal as it should be – loud, aggressive and twitching with energy – they gave an impressive performance that set a high standard for the other bands to follow. Sharp, heavy riffs, dark tumbling basslines, powerful vocal growls and flawlessly executed, complex drumming patterns saw them standout as a band who knows how to get the most out of their sound. Giving it all they had at The Rainbow, it was an impressively intense set from a band with some excellent material and serious potential."
Surface Unsigned - Steven Hudyba

"The sixth band of the evening was Black Country based four-piece Asingod. One of the heaviest acts of the evening – their sound is loud, aggressive Death Metal performed with furious energy and technical precision and it made for a suitably dark and intense set. Heavy, driving riffs, rumbling basslines, relentless percussion and a powerful rasp/roar vocal combination make for a sound that’s pure Death Metal and went down well with the Monday evening crowd, even prompting them to burst into some sporadic so-far-unseen mosh action, which I guess, when all is said and done, is the ultimate compliment. "

Mosco:Disco with DJ’s Lucie, Jack Slack & Andreas

From their myspace:

‘Mosco Disco was created by Leanne, Lucie & Chloe in August 2003. Leanne liked messing around with vintage clothing and cut+paste, Lucie liked tinkering with vinyl and Chloe enjoyed baking and random bouts of unconsciousness. So we celebrated our little trio by launching a web-site and decorating the bond-cave (Red bar & lounge) with vintage clothing and cakes, calling it MOSCO DISCO PIPPADEE PARTY. Since then we have borrowed the creative talents of various Birmingham DJs - Scott Bleepz (Panic), Adam Shelton (below), TAK!, Matt Ridding (remake/remodel), Ross T (below), Jack Slack (Slackers Delight, Ping Pong Club), Ollie (Not Cricket) Satori, Kat, Guy Carlos, Dom, Chris. We also borrowed the pen-man ship of mosco people and Birmingham graffiti-artists to create papier-mâché shoes. Regular guests are Leannes pop-up-cut-outs, and ceramic cats have been known to grace our decks. Michael Valentine-west (AKA Twiggy) played live for us at the Rainbow and we took over the Kitchen in the Custard Factory for New Years Eve 2005, showing films and shorts in the Theatre. Mosco is now a regular at the Bulls Head in Moseley with resident DJ Lucie and we plan to do some one-off parties, more art-related stuff and will launch a new web-site soon. We LIKE TO PaRTY, LIsTEN TO ELeCTrO, 80s & SYNtH PoP, BOrrOW ThINGs, EATCAKES, PAPIeR-MACHe, cuT-OUtS.’

Capsule present Melt Banana + Mirror! Mirror!

A Japanese noise rock band that was founded in 1992, A maelstrom of experimental heart surgery, Melt Banana walk on water, They effortlessly juggle all of those sharks that think they're swimming in new, unexplored territories. Here are the imported children of the no waves gone by, a hardcore-informed, audio info overload from Tokyo's ferocious underground. MELT-BANANA sweat out a super-adrenalized, maxi-caffeinated collision of frenzied drum rhythms and torturous guitar squeals through tiny, frantic, hyperrhythmic little songs. Frontwoman Yasuko O.'s ultra-high-pitched screeches and Agata's screaming slide guitar vie for supremacy across a rhythmic frenzy that is so ridiculous and precise, it will crush you with its brilliance. Here are the cerebral gnashing guitars, the aggravated pep squad proclamations and the neck-snapping rhythm change-ups irresistible to those seeking a new musical truth. MELT-BANANA doesn't sound like anything you've heard. Simply put, they are unclassifiable.

Mirror! Mirror! Are a rowdy bunch of lads from small town called Nuneaton, in Warwickshire.
After 4 years of DIY shows up and down the country the dance-tastic troupe have built a strong fan base, both with the underground crowd and people who just like to dance.
2008 is looking busier and busier for the M! M! boys with a cassette just out on Stop Scratching, a download / 7” single being released on 28th March through ondryland and Holy Roar Records. Touring the UK throughout April and the summer means they won’t be resting for long before they release their 5 track EP in the summer (CD and download also).
Fresh from stealing the show supporting Polysics at Islington Academy and a crowd-surfing set supporting the Mae Shi at the Sunflower Lounge M!M! are fast gaining a reputation as one of the best live bands around at the moment.

Electro Bands

Connect Four presents four of the finest electro bands in the midlands to play live.

Line-up: Jon Baz + Bee Shocked Technique + Death Ohh Eff + 2Radio7 + DJ set from Subcitizen (Resistor-Records)

Jon Baz is a songwriter, musician and pop futurist who has been producing and developing his own style of electronic music for a number of years. Not one to carelessly jump on the revival bandwagon he takes influences from synth pop past and present, injecting them with his own tastes in dance music.
Over the last 2 years Jon Baz has been performing around the UK including extensive coverage of London..s alternative venues and Synth Pop clubs including Mark Moore..s Electrogogo and Being Boiled.
Jon has released his Physical Attraction album and brand new EP titled Fortune Lies. Other material include a single of I Won’t Let You Down.

Bee Shocked Technique our a collection of rogue sound constructs that have been ripped by stellar tidal forces created by the mini black holes collapsing in the sparse spaces between biological audio sensory apparatures, the point of convergence moves with them, forever trapped in the vortices.
Unprecedented barbaric rhythms conjure ancient gods that spring forth from the broken soil to fuel Anglo imperialist squarewave, and other waves as well, frequency time dilation's and oscillatory sub midrange Napoleonic raucousnessess.

DeathOhhEff (formerly Death05) are from Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire,
They've been on radio1 and played some killer gigs, they use a drum machine some keyboards and some guitars, and they'll play anywhere (with a PA.)

2Radio7 is a kind of side project from our band "TV Influenced Me" consisting of Matt Mitchell and Dave Smith, the only difference is the use of drum patterns rather than live drums, which are usually provided by Chuddy (matt's brother). Basically, stuff written when Chuddy wasn't around for whatever reason!

The Secret Music Club runs every Wednesday night at Nicole's, 18 Hall St, Hockley, Birmingham. B18 6BS (about midway between St Paul's Square and the Chamberlain Clock). It includes one or two featured acts each week, together with an open mic session which begins around 8.30pm. So: Bring instruments, voices, songs, poems...etc. Free pint for any performers

This week MyMateMark + Open Mic

Rock meets folk, meets blues, meets jazz...!!!
‘My Mate Mark’ represents the combined musical talents of Mark Whitmore and Mark Bennett. From the very first chance meeting at a pub ‘open-mic’, a whole sequence of uncanny coincidences have come to light that have just kind of indicated that this duo ‘was probably to be’.

The last song of Mark W played that first night was going to be the first of Mark B’s following set! (fittingly, that tune was the first thing they chose to look at as a duo! - and hardly surprisingly ‘Wild Wood’ was high up the shortlist of possible band names!!). Born the same year, just three months apart, they both have Irish cousins, both had the same bike as a child, both are ex-triathletes, and they even chose the same kitchen from Ikea (it turns out!). The fact they both happen to chose to use the same brand/colour/thickness of guitar pick almost goes without saying….. With the friendship that followed, some form of musical collaboration was inevitable.

And musically, although coming from two quite distinct musical directions, once the two elements are brought together the rapport is very obvious. MB’s bluesy/jazzy guitar style compliments MW’s powerful vocals and forms the core of what they do. The warm fat bluesy sound of MB’s acoustic finger-style blends wonderfully with the more open-stringed brighter often folkier sound of MW’s (often altered tuned) Yamaha. The two guitars work together wonderfully to create a rich multi-layered sound with much texture and depth. Add the vocals and it is a classic case of it all very definitely adding up to far more than the sum of the parts.

Venue: Nicoles, 18 Hall Street, Hockley, B18 6BS

Platform Promotions present their Quids in night with 360 + Liner + The Heathers

360:
360 is made up of 8 musicians who have been together for quite a while, but have now been settled into their present incarnation for the last 2 years. They are a “live” band, bringing excitement to the stage and transmitting that to the audience, who never fail to pick it up and run with it for all they are worth. All their material is original – most of which is written by their guitar-playing singer Ross Lydon. First hearing is noted for the influence of reggae and ska to their music, but upon listening further, you quickly begin to realise that there is more. More melody, more catches and more rock.

In 2006 the band were voted Best Urban Band in Birmingham at the Birmingham Music Awards, and headlined at the popular Birmingham University Vale Festival. 360 have played at numerous festivals, including Shambala, Big Green Gathering, Beach Break Live and Eastern Haze. They have a loyal and large fan base in and around the Birmingham area, but it is obvious to anyone who hears or sees them that the time has now come for their music to be heard by more people, North, South, East and West......
